Project overview:Fund a Community Volunteer Ambassador internship to manage Yosemite’s 10,000 annual volunteers, connect them with parkwide volunteer projects, and provide training and leadership support.

How your support helps: The volunteer program at Yosemite National Park welcomes more than 10,000 people each year, offering opportunities that range from assisting visitors at information desks to studying rare birds of prey to maintaining trails and viewpoints. Regardless of the task, these volunteer positions address operational gaps and workforce constraints by supplementing staffing capacity, ultimately protecting Yosemite’s well-being.

Program management is critical with such a large volunteer base. This year, the National Park Service hopes to hire a Community Volunteer Ambassador intern to work closely with park staff and lead volunteer groups on a variety of park projects.

The intern’s role will not only support enriching volunteer and educational programs — field projects, community outreach events, and more — but also ensure deep public engagement and expand meaningful pathways for new and returning visitors to connect with Yosemite National Park.

This year: In 2026, the National Park Service will bring on a Community Volunteer Ambassador intern to help support Yosemite’s volunteer network of more than 10,000 people. With your support, this intern will guide recruitment, trainings, and volunteer projects — helping extend staff capacity and strengthening efforts to care for Yosemite’s natural and cultural resources.
