Slow down and connect with nature in a new way. Our art team is here to help artists of all ages and experience levels turn outdoor observations into works of art!
To ensure the safety of our staff, our guest art instructors and park visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve canceled most of our in-person art activities for the 2020 season. We’re excited to continue offering custom art classes in the park for families and other small groups, and we are taking precautions and following public health guidance to ensure the safety of participants and instructors. Contact us to plan your class.
While Happy Isles Art and Nature Center is closed for the season, we have lots of ways for you to make art on your own, whether you’re at home or in the park:
- COMING SOON: Purchase art kits from our online store, complete with instructions for making your own watercolor, pen and ink, and pastel pieces. The kits can be shipped to your home, or you can pick them up in the park.
- Check out the video tutorials and other resources our art team has been creating, including a four-part watercolor series, kid-friendly printmaking and scratch-art projects, and Yosemite-themed coloring pages.
- Stay tuned for more opportunities to learn from our team and from guest artists.
We’re also offering some multiday art adventures this year. As with all adventure programs, we’re implementing strict safety measures that align with the latest federal, state and local guidelines. Safety procedures include asking participants to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance from others, wash or sanitize hands frequently, and avoid touching shared surfaces and objects. If you’re considering joining one of our art adventure programs, please review our COVID-19 Outdoor and Custom Adventure procedures.
Planning a trip to the park for next year? We hope you’ll add art to your itinerary! We’re working on our 2021 art program schedule, and we’re looking forward to once again offering our full line-up of workshops with professional artists, Open Studio sessions, children’s classes, and guided art adventures, when it’s safe to do so. We’ll post details about our 2021 programs here as soon as they’re available.
