Project overview: Develop and produce a five-minute video that highlights Yosemites first people and their centuries-old commitment to stewardship of these lands.

How your support helps: A five-minute ADA-compliant film will bring attention to the parks vibrant cultural demonstration program and incorporate Tribal voices and traditional languages into the dialogue. In addition to playing on a loop in the lobby of the Yosemite Museum, leading into the Indian Cultural Exhibit, it will be posted on park and partner websites. Featuring Indigenous languages, the film will serve as both a record of and an introduction to imperiled languages.

This year: The video project, which will be fully completed in 2024, will be a joint effort among park staff, Tribal representatives and demonstrators, and external production partners. Park Tribal members will also benefit from the project by receiving the b-roll footage of cultural demonstrations for their archival purposes.

Project partners: Seven Affiliated Tribes of Yosemite, Yosemite National Park
