Project overview: Produce a short video that provides visitors with an overview of how to visit Yosemite in one day during the winter season as a means to increase efficiency in the Welcome Center and allow visitors to plan ahead for a great park experience.
How your support helps: One Day in Yosemite is a short video that allows visitors to spend a few minutes — six minutes and 23 seconds, to be exact — learning about the most magnificent and efficient ways to spend a single day in Yosemite.
The video plays daily in the Welcome Center, increasing efficiency in the space by answering some of the most common visitor questions. The video is also available online, where it has been viewed by over 60,000 people since its release in late 2023, allowing visitors to plan for a great visit before they even enter Yosemite.
The video, however, is only helpful for summer visitors, as it discusses landmarks and locations that are not available or reachable in the winter. This leaves the tens of thousands of visitors who visit in the winter without an efficient way to plan their quick trips.
To address this need, the National Park Service plans to produce a winter version of the One Day in Yosemite video that highlights season-appropriate activities and roadways. The winter version will also play in the Welcome Center and be available online. Just like the summer video captions will be available in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish, and an audio description will be available for people with impaired vision.
This year: In 2026, the National Park Service and Yosemite Conservancy will film, edit, and produce a One Day in Yosemite video that provides visitors with an overview of how to visit Yosemite in the winter for just one day. Captions in eight languages and an audio description will also be developed during this time. The video will also be played daily in the Welcome Center and uploaded to the park website and YouTube for maximum viewership. With your support, the production of the One Winter Day in Yosemite video, in combination with the original summer version, will ensure that visitors have year-round access to streamlined information about the most accessible and iconic sites in Yosemite National Park.
