Restoring hundreds of miles of trails in Yosemite, from the Valley to the remote wilderness.

Yosemite’s vast trail network covers hundreds of miles and leads up mountain slopes and along rivers, through forests and to waterfall spray zones. Your support can fund projects to keep trails throughout the park in top shape, including by repairing damage and preventing erosion.

The trail restoration projects our donors support in Yosemite help improve hiking experiences: Crews repair trails damaged by rockfalls, winter storms and other natural events; fix switchbacks, smooth out surfaces and build sturdy stone steps to help hikers traverse steep, rough terrain; and add drainage features or boardwalks to keep water from soaking the trail. Restoring trails also protects ecosystem health, by reducing erosion, helping water reach surrounding habitat, and encouraging hikers to stay on designated paths instead of inadvertently trampling soil, plants and tree roots.

Explore our iconic and past projects to see how donors have made a difference for trails all over the park, from high country destinations such as Gaylor Lakes and Mount Dana to Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove.
