Yosemite is one of the most-visited U.S. national parks. With millions of people traveling to the park every year, often in personal vehicles, park leaders are seeking new ways to ensure a safe, smooth and environmentally sustainable flow of people on Yosemite’s limited roadways.

This funding will support efforts to understand and address a paramount park challenge: making sure everyone coming through the gates, from day-visitors to staff and residents, can get to their destinations with minimal traffic-related interruptions. Researchers will assess opportunities to improve the flow of visitors and vehicles without expanding the road network, in order to identify potential management solutions for reducing transit times, congestion and emissions.

Your support will enable the National Park Service to make major headway on one of Yosemite’s most pressing 21st century problems, leading to enormous benefits for people and the park.
