Every summer, Search and Rescue volunteers and staff based at the Tuolumne Meadows Campground provide invaluable services, from operating an ambulance to performing technical rescues on rock walls. Over time, the canvas tents at the SAR team’s seasonal base camp have suffered wear and tear, making them inadequate in face of the variable, often harsh high country weather.
This grant funded new tents and wood stoves for the team, bettering the living situation for a group of critical personnel. Thanks to the improved conditions at the base camp, SAR team members can rely on comfortable, sturdy housing while they donate their time and talents to keep people safe. The upgraded housing will also encourage volunteers to return year after year, bringing back instrumental knowledge of local terrain and techniques.
Your gift improved housing for a vitally important team dedicated to protecting lives in Yosemite.
