Every year, millions of people visit Yosemite to experience the natural wonders of one of the country’s oldest national parks. During the busy summer season, however, bumper-to-bumper traffic can impinge on the experience of being immersed in the park’s remarkable landscape.
Park experts are working to address that challenge in several ways, including by studying how people move through the Valley and other parts of the park in busy months. This grant supported workshops focused on transportation challenges and opportunities in Yosemite, as well as research to examine how visitors enter and exit the park. Results from these and other efforts will help inform strategies to reduce congestion in the park and improve the overall visitor experience.
