The California Conservation Corps (CCC) plays an important role in keeping Yosemite’s trails healthy and hiker-friendly. For more than two decades, Conservancy donors have supported the CCC program in Yosemite, enabling diverse young adults (ages 18–25) to spend a season restoring trails, exploring environmental stewardship and developing key skills.

This 2018 CCC crew focused on trails in the Tuolumne River Watershed, starting at Hetch Hetchy and working into the surrounding wilderness. Participants gained experience with a range of restoration skills, such as repairing storm damage and performing intricate rockwork, that improve trails and protect surrounding habitat. During the season, they worked on more than 53 of miles of trails — and built a foundation for success in their future endeavors.

Your support funded improvements on Yosemite’s beloved trails and helped shape the next generation of park stewards.

Completed in partnership with Yosemite National Park and California Conservation Corps.
