Protect, preserve, and prepare

Yosemite for the Next Century

Yosemite National Park is one of the most extraordinary places on the planet. Yet, impacts of increased visitation, wildfires, and a changing climate threaten Yosemite and the plants, animals, and people who call it home. Yosemite’s millions of visitors deserve 21st-century conservation, safety, and informational initiatives to meet their needs. We seek to raise $40 million to fund the most urgent work to be undertaken in Yosemite.

From our 1920s roots to today, Yosemite Conservancy has partnered with the National Park Service to address Yosemite’s most pressing needs and greatest opportunities. Together, we want to ensure the park continues to thrive. Your support will help us accomplish three priorities:

Enrich the Visitor Experience

The Mist Trail and Half Dome Corridor are one of the most spectacular and busy hiking areas in the National Park System. Due to steep and often slippery terrain, crowded paths, and limited visitor information, this corridor prompts more search and rescue activity than any other area of the park. This project will improve visitor safety through updated infrastructure, trails, viewpoints, and informational signage.

Support Environmental Resilience

Giant sequoias are known for their massive size and resilience, but as global temperatures rise, a deadly combination of catastrophic fire, bark beetles, and drought has put their future in doubt. Since 2015, nearly 20% of the world’s giant sequoias have been killed by wildfire. We are funding new research, conservation measures, and landscape-scale solutions to protect sequoias within Yosemite and beyond.

Sustain Yosemite’s People

As we commemorate 100 years of partnership, we’re investing in the people who make Yosemite such a special place. In collaboration with Yosemite’s traditionally associated Tribes, we are supporting efforts to restore the Wahhoga Indian Cultural site and tell Yosemite’s full and complex history. Additionally, we are supporting NPS rangers, seasonal employees, volunteers, and Conservancy staff by exploring the possibility of building housing on Conservancy-owned land in Yosemite West, adjacent to the park boundary.

Our Goals

$40 Million

The future of Yosemite depends on you. We are raising $40 million to fund urgent projects that will protect and enhance the park for generations to come. Over the past 100 years, donors have played a crucial role in making Yosemite the majestic park it is today. Now, we need your help to shape the Yosemite of tomorrow: a resilient, welcoming park with healthy ecosystems, innovative research and resource management, and visitor experiences worthy of the unparalleled surroundings.
