Spend a guided weekend in Yosemite exploring lesser-known meadow ecosystems in the western part of the park. This is a rare chance to investigate Ackerson Meadow and the surrounding landscape.

You’ll be joined by NPS hydro-ecologist Tim Kuhn, who will share ongoing research on wetland restoration efforts in progress. You’ll get a closer look at how the park service is reversing human impacts on this newly-acquired land and biodiversity hotspot.

In the evening, you’ll explore the habits and habitats of the region’s bats with researcher Lisa Murphy, who is using state-of-the-art equipment to track these flying mammals. Learn how bats use echolocation to navigate after dark, and about the critical role they play in this unique ecosystem.

Throughout the trip, you’ll be treated to a spring display of bright wildflowers at their peak. You’ll learn about the natural and human history that has impacted Yosemite’s meadows, and the important role wetland ecosystems play in natural landscapes. You’ll end the weekend with a better understanding of Yosemite’s meadows and the species they support.
