Giant Sequoia
Giant sequoias, which are among the world’s largest, oldest living things, grow naturally only in the western Sierra Nevada. They begin as tiny seeds, no bigger than an oat flake, and grow to more than 250 feet tall over hundreds or thousands of years. Conservancy donors have supported many grants to study and protect sequoias in Yosemite, including the restoration of Mariposa Grove.
