American Pika
On a late September day, hay-gathering was in full force at this rock pile in Yosemite’s high country. This industrious American pika was constantly on the move, cutting off branches and then scurrying and leaping across the rocks to add to its haystack for winter. In 2015, Conservancy donors supported research on how a changing climate is affecting the pikas’ alpine habitat.
