If you love watercolor and the thrill of backpacking, this immersive three-day, two-night retreat is your perfect adventure. Join guest artist Nikki Frumkin and a Yosemite naturalist guide as we journey into the breathtaking alpine landscape of Cathedral Lakes. Along the trail and at camp, you’ll learn to paint directly from nature, using watercolor to express the energy, emotion, and movement of Yosemite’s soaring peaks and serene lakes. With Nikki’s guidance, you’ll develop the skills to create expressive on-location paintings while deepening your connection to the landscape around you. Using lightweight, Leave No Trace art supplies, you’ll tap into your creative practice without impacting the wilderness. Through shared journaling, painting exercises, and personal reflection, you’ll come away with a full sketchbook, fresh inspiration, and the confidence to take your art deeper into the backcountry. This retreat is for experienced backpackers who are familiar with using watercolor and ready to combine physical adventure with creative exploration.
