Annual Gifts through your IRA
If you’re at least 70 1/2 years old, you can make tax-free gifts to the Conservancy of up to $111,000 from your traditional or Roth IRA. If you are required to take a minimum distribution, your donation will count toward your minimum required distribution. You will not receive any taxable benefits, nor any tax deduction, for your gift. Your contribution is simply not reported as income.
Contact your IRA custodian and ask them to send the check for a “qualified charitable distribution” to Yosemite Conservancy to the following address:
Yosemite Conservancy
101 Montgomery Street, Suite 2450
San Francisco, CA 94104
Our tax identification number is: 94-3058041.
Please request that your IRA custodian reference your name and address in the memo or we may not receive your name with your gift. If you have questions about a gift from your IRA that has already been made, please contact us at info@yosemite.org.
We receive several accidentally anonymous IRA gifts each year; please reach out if you haven’t received an acknowledgement for your gift!
Naming the Conservancy as a beneficiary of your retirement account
Did you know that you can designate Yosemite Conservancy as a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your IRA and join our Legacy Society? Make a plan to support Yosemite’s future by leaving all or part of the balance of your IRA — all you have to do is submit a simple form to your plan administrator, naming Yosemite Conservancy as a beneficiary. We’ll receive the assets tax free; you’ll still be able to take withdrawals and modify your beneficiaries if your family’s needs change during your lifetime.
