Northern California–based artist Michael Friedland first fell in love with watercolor as a 19-year-old art student — and he has been painting ever since. After studying painting and design in Connecticut, San Diego and Philadelphia, he embarked on a 40-year career as a designer. Now retired, he’s thrilled to be able to devote his time to pursuing two of his passions: painting and teaching. He serves on the board of the California Watercolor Association, is a member of five watercolor societies and regularly exhibits his work in juried exhibitions and serves as a juror for others.
