Back to Wilderness Hub

There are five issuing stations located throughout the park for your convenience. To learn about these stations, including a map showing each station, visit Yosemite National Park’s Wilderness Permit Stations page.

Wilderness permits are not issued by phone or email, and it is not possible to print your permit at home. Only the permit holder or alternate permit holder can pick up a wilderness permit.

Standard Pickup

➡️ All permit stations are open seasonally from 8 am to 5 pm.
➡️ You may pick up your permit at any time during open hours the day before your entry date.
➡️ Backpackers campgrounds are available for backpackers the night before an entry date, and the night a wilderness trip ends. Learn more on Yosemite National Park’s website.
➡️ You may pick up your permit until 11 am on your entry date unless you mark your permit for late arrival.

Late Arrival

➡️ There is no after-hours pickup. Late arrival means you can pick your permit up after 11 am on your entry date. Permits marked for late arrival must still be picked up during open hours, 8 am to 5 pm.
➡️ If you plan to pick your permit up after 11 am on your entry date, you must mark your permit for late arrival on Recreation.gov.
➡️ You may mark your permit for late arrival on Recreation.gov once you are within seven days of your entry date. Follow the steps on “How To Modify” to do so.
➡️ If it is more than seven days before your entry date, the option for late arrival will not be available.
➡️ If a permit is not held for late arrival, it will be canceled at 11 am. You must begin your wilderness hike on your entry date, or the permit is not valid for wilderness travel.

Trailhead Parking

There is parking at or near each trailhead unless otherwise noted.

For information about parking at your trailhead, food lockers and toilets, visit Yosemite National Park’s Trailhead Information Page.

➡️ Store all scented items that you are not carrying with you in the provided communal food lockers at the trailhead. Food lockers cannot be locked.
➡️ Parking permits are not provided, nor are they necessary to park at a trailhead.
➡️ Overnight parking is prohibited on both Glacier Point and Tioga Roads beginning on October 15. This includes all parking lots, turnouts, and side roads. You may not leave your vehicle at any trailhead along Tioga or Glacier Point Road beginning October 15.
➡️ You must arrange your own transportation for drop-off and pick-up at any trailhead on Glacier Point or Tioga Road. Public transportation is not available at that time.
