Program Overview: Embark on a journey to explore the diverse and stunning world of Yosemite’s trees! Join your expert naturalist, Dan Webster, on an immersive experience into the heart of Yosemite’s apex flora, where you’ll discover interconnected ecosystems and breathtaking biodiversity. Gain firsthand knowledge about the role trees play in their environment, and intricate insight into each species we explore! This guided discovery of Yosemite’s tree ecology will reveal the science and beauty of our arboreal wonders. Whether you seek to improve identification skills, develop deeper ecological knowledge, or cultivate a connection with the beauty and mystery of trees, this offering promises to be a rewarding and unforgettable experience. The forest awaits!

Know Before You Go:

  • Program dates: Saturday, July 26, 8:30 am–4:30 pm
  • Program location: High Country and Yosemite Valley
  • What’s included: A full day of guided instruction by a Yosemite Naturalist; full day to explore the park on your own (July 27); park entry (as needed); and shared tent camping (camping dates cannot be altered). There is no discount if you choose not to use the included gate pass or campsite.
  • Camping dates: Participants can arrive on July 25 after 12 pm and must depart on July 28 by 11 am. There are two shared campsites among all the participants. We guarantee tent camping only. If you choose to bring a recreational vehicle, we cannot guarantee you will have a parking spot. Please be prepared to tent camp. A picnic table, bear locker, and firepit are provided at each site. Campsites fit six people per site.
  • Campground location: Crane Flat
  • Lodging: No lodging accommodations other than camping are available.
  • Experience level: All levels welcome, but participants must be physically fit to walk at elevation with a daypack.

*This one-day program includes three nights of camping. Make the most of your trip by enjoying an extra free day, July 27, to explore on your own.

What’s not included:

  • Gear or meals during your program.
  • Camping gear or meals in the shared campsites.
  • Transportation.
