Location: Event takes place in Yosemite Valley

Spend your Friday afternoon exploring the science and stories shaping Yosemite today. The Yosemite Conservancy Stewardship Series offers a unique opportunity to learn from experts through short, topic-focused programs inspired by donor-funded projects. Each two-hour session highlights a different area of research, restoration, or stewardship — from meadow recovery and sequoia ecology to wildlife conservation and beyond.

Meet one of Yosemite’s comeback stories — the California red-legged frog, a federally threatened species, and one of three endangered amphibians in the park. Once gone from Yosemite, these remarkable frogs are now thriving thanks to years of innovative science and collaborative work done by the National Park Service, funded by Yosemite Conservancy donors and other park partners.

The Yosemite National Park aquatic wildlife branch has developed successful reintroduction methods (in collaboration with UC Santa Barbara and the San Francisco Zoo), making Yosemite the first place where this species and other endangered amphibians have been restored. Donors at Yosemite Conservancy have been key, funding research and hands-on restoration that continues to support these efforts.

Join this program to see how science, creativity, and conservation are working together to give Yosemite’s amphibians a leap toward a brighter future.
