Get the most out of the final days of summer on a two-day, one-night guided backpacking trip in the heart of Yosemite. On Saturday, enjoy the views of Tenaya Lake and Half Dome during a short, easy-paced hike, before setting up your camp near May Lake (9,000 feet). Spend Sunday relaxing at camp or hiking up nearby Mount Hoffmann (10,800 feet), Yosemite’s geographic center, before heading back to Tioga Road. If you opt for the day hike, you’ll be treated to a 360-degree view of the park, including Yosemite Valley and the northern boundary peaks, from a soaring summit.

Throughout the weekend, your guide will help you connect with the natural world and the forces that have shaped Yosemite’s landscape. By the time you pack out on Sunday, you’ll be well-acquainted with plants and animals that live at high elevations, with Yosemite’s unique geology, and with the tranquil beauty that makes the May Lake area so special.

Included with your registration:

  • Two full days of guided backpacking in the Tuolumne Meadows area. Start at 9 am on Saturday, September 7, through 3 pm on Sunday, September 8 (dependent on the speed of the group), plus an introductory evening meeting (7:30 pm on Friday, September 6, at Tuolumne Meadows Campground).
  • Park entry (as needed).
  • Shared camping among all participants before and after the trip (as needed, September 6 and September 8) at Tuolumne Meadows Campground.
  • Bear-canister rental (as needed) and Wilderness permits.

Note: There is no discount if you choose not to use our gate pass or campsites.

Information about upgrading your accommodations to stay at Tuolumne Lodge will be emailed to you after you sign up, our room block is for Sunday, September 8 only.
