Each year, approximately 1.5 million visitors come to Yosemite Village, located in the heart of Yosemite Valley, to find information about what to do and where to go. For those coming from the main day-use parking area, the arrival experience can be disorienting and confusing.

In 2015, your gifts helped fund the initial design process for renovating a new visitor information hub that will create a better sense of arrival for park visitors. When complete, this new area will replace the current Sports Shop and will provide important visitor orientation information and trip-planning resources. Located in a highly visible space in Yosemite Village, it will serve as a much-needed complement to the existing Valley Visitor Center.

Your support propelled important first steps to improve the arrival experience for all Yosemite Valley visitors.

Project Notes

The public will arrive either from the adjacent reconfigured 750-vehicle day-use parking area or from the free shuttle buses stopping at the adjacent major transit hub. The facility will be at the portion of the existing Village Store building closest to the reconfigured parking area. This approximately 3,000 square- foot facility will complement the Valley Visitor Center, assisting visitors with orientation and trip planning.
