The Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias is one of three sequoia groves in Yosemite, which also includes the Merced Grove and the Mariposa Grove. Visitors hike a short distance to arrive at the grove and unlike the Mariposa Grove; there are no guided interpretive tours.

Visitors used to arrive to find outdated interpretive material and little information to orient them to the highlights of the grove. The signage was damaged, the information outdated and incorrect, and the self-guided tour was not suitable for the grove.

In 2011, Yosemite Conservancy donors helped change all this. Visitors now experience a self-guided tour with the most up-to-date scientific and educational information. Visitors have the opportunity to better understand and appreciate these unique giants of Yosemite, and share this with their families.

Project Notes

We are excited to partner with the Federal Highway Administration and Yosemite Conservancy to ensure Tuolumne Grove will receive much needed rehabilitation. Visitors will enjoy better facilities, including new pathways and picnic areas, and the grove will be better protected as a result of this work.
