Renowned Professional Photographers to Lead Outdoor Photo Skills Workshops in Yosemite This Fall
All levels of photography enthusiasts invited to expand color landscape skills and artistic inspiration October 27-30 and November 4-6.
Subdued autumn hues in Yosemite National Park reflect every natural nook and cavernous cranny with striking depth, while deciduous trees transform into a brilliant color palate, rewarding photographers with an unrivaled artistic landscape. This fall, the award-winning non-profit Yosemite Association invites photography enthusiasts to improve their techniques for capturing Yosemite’s dramatic autumn color on film, during two weekend workshops October 27-30 and November 4-6.
The outdoor craft improvement classes, led by renowned Yosemite photographers Dave Wyman and Keith Walklet, will be conducted for all skill levels in an interactive format that mixes professional development with personal artistic enrichment and relaxation.
October 27-30: “Autumn Light: Photography in Yosemite Valley and Beyond” will be led by professional photographer Dave Wyman. This workshop will explore a number of scenic venues in Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Foresta, teaching students about the art of shape, form and texture in photography. “Autumn Light” is geared for novice through intermediate students using 35mm, digital and medium-format cameras.
Dave Wyman has conducted photography seminars for Yosemite Association since 1989. He created the travel photography program for the University of Southern California, where he also directed USC’s wilderness outings program. His photographs and articles have appeared in several noted publications, and he is the author of Back Roads, Byways and Scenic Highways of Northern California.
Cost for the “Autumn Light” weekend workshop is $310 per person (including Sunday Brunch at The Ahwahnee). The $20 park entrance fee is waived for registered participants and Yosemite Association members receive their usual 15% discounted registration fee.
To register for the “Autumn Light” workshop, call (209) 379-2321 or sign up online at http://www.yosemite.org/seminars/index.html.
Workshop attendees have a choice of free camping in Yosemite Valley, or may opt to reserve a room at the Yosemite Lodge at a rate of $161 per night. Lodging reservations and information can be obtained by calling 559-252-4848.
November 4-6: “Focusing on Nature: Autumn Photography in Yosemite” will be presented by noted Yosemite photographer and author, Keith Walklet. This weekend course, conducted during the peak of autumn color, will demystify nature photography for beginning to intermediate artists, discuss the fundamental concepts of successful composition, and provide practical instruction on how to get the most from one’s equipment. An optional sunset/moonrise photography excursion is also available during this course.
Keith Walklet lived and worked in Yosemite for 15 years, and he is widely published. His credits include Audubon, National Geographic and Sierra Club books. The Yosemite Association published his books Yosemite: An Enduring Treasure (2001) and The Ahwahnee: Yosemite’s Grand Hotel (2004).
Fees for the “Focusing on Nature” weekend workshop is $225 per person and the $20 park entrance fee is waived for registered participants. Yosemite Association members receive their usual 15% discounted registration fee.
