Non-profit Yosemite Association conducts special Mother’s Day outing including Ahwahnee Champagne Brunch, guided historical walk through Yosemite Valley and commemorative gift
The Yosemite Association (YA) a non-profit organization known for their award-winning Outdoor Adventures program, announces the ideal family friendly Mother’s Day gift idea: tickets to a special Outdoor Adventure outing on May 8, “The Women of Yosemite: A Mother’s Day Celebrationin Yosemite National Park.”
Held during the height of Yosemite’s springtime grandeur, the day will begin with a sumptuous champagne brunch at the world-renowned Ahwahnee hotel. After brunch, Yosemite Association interpretive specialist, Chrissy Knight, will lead a leisurely walk in Yosemite Valley, relating fascinating stories of Yosemite’s remarkable women, past and present. This will be an excellent family friendly outing, and opportunity to learn about Yosemite’s cultural heritage amidst the breathtaking backdrop of Yosemite’s famous granite landmarks, cascading waterfalls and brilliantly colored wildflowers.
All Mother’s Day Celebration attendees will receive a complimentary gift set that includes an embossed Yosemite logo bookbag and copy of the book “Pioneers in Petticoats: Yosemite’s Early Women” by noted Yosemite historian/author Shirley Sargent.
Admission price to attend the special Mother’s Day Celebration is $136 for Yosemite Association members and $160 for non-members. The all-inclusive pricing includes The Ahwahnee Brunch and champagne toast, gratuity, tax, guided interpretive walk and commemorative gift set. Attendees of the YA Mother’s Day Celebration are invited to enjoy free camping at a YA shared campsite in Yosemite Valley, or book lodging in Yosemite Valley for an additional cost. A limited number of overnight rooms at Yosemite Lodge have been set aside on May 7. The Yosemite Association will provide a lodging reservation request form at time of event booking.
Annually, the Yosemite Association offers over 80 field courses on a wide variety of outdoor related topics throughout Yosemite. Additional Outdoor Adventure programs conducted in the month of May include: Birds of Big Meadow; Geology of Yosemite Valley; Springtime Valley Hikes; Hetch Hetchy Wildflower Explorations; Wildflower Photography; Hike to the Top of Yosemite Falls; Yosemite’s Hidden History; and two Field Journal Series (writing, sketching and painting) in Wawona and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.
Founded in 1923, the Yosemite Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of Yosemite through its volunteer, publishing, outdoor education and other programs. Yosemite Association revenues are used to support education, museum, research and environmental programs in Yosemite through donations to the National Park Service. Since its inception in 1971, the Association’s popular Outdoor Adventures program has been growing steadily, reflecting the public’s continuing interest in quality outdoor education.
Yosemite Outdoor Adventure participants do not have to be a member of Yosemite Association to attend field courses. However, those who wish to become a steward of Yosemite, one of the world’s most beautiful places, can join the Yosemite Association with memberships starting at $35 per year. Membership benefits include discounted room rates in and around Yosemite, a 15% discount on all outdoor adventures, subscription to “ Yosemite” the quarterly journal of the Association, 15% discount on all books, maps, posters and calendars, and regular email newsletters.
