Explore Yosemite through New One-day Programs Offered by the Non-Profit Yosemite Outdoor Adventures!

Experience the beautiful landscape of Yosemite while taking one of our fun, educational programs. This year Yosemite Outdoor Adventures is offering several new one-day programs to help visitors explore the park with a ranger or skilled naturalist.

Glacier Point, with its breathtaking views of Yosemite Valley, is a favorite destination for visitors. Spend a day exploring the area with park ranger Dick Ewart as he teaches basic orientation skills in his course "Get Lost with A Ranger: Map & Compass for Beginners." Ranger Ewart has worked in Yosemite for over 25 years and has hiked most of the park's trails. His extensive knowledge and fun style result in his classes filling regularly each year. Offered on June 1, the program is priced at $80 including camping.

In Yosemite Valley, the magnificent granite formations dominate the scenery. These granite walls have also challenged rock climbers from all over the world; many people gaze up at El Capitan's walls watching the progress of climbers as they attempt the ascent to the top. In "Rock Climbing Then & Now," legendary rock climber Tom Frost, and Yosemite Mountaineering School Director Dave Bengston will take you on an open-air tram ride to observe climbers in the park while they share their stories of the history of rock climbing. The tour is scheduled for June 22 and the fee of $95 includes camping and an open-air tram ride.

Explore the beautiful, sub-alpine basin of Tuolumne Meadows with expert naturalist Pete Devine in his outing "Exploring Yosemite for Beginners." While hiking in the area, you'll learn about wildflowers blooming in the meadows, the origin of the spectacular granite dome formations, and the identity of the birds soaring overhead. Hikes to Lembert Dome, and Soda Springs, along with treks along the Tuolumne River, make this the perfect first-time adventure in Tuolumne. This program runs on July 22 and the $80 fee includes camping in Tuolumne Meadows.

In addition to these programs, Yosemite Outdoor Adventures also offers many other one-day and multiple day trips. Our courses offer something for everybody-hiking, photography, art, natural history, backpacking, writing-and are taught by park rangers, veteran outdoor leaders and seasoned naturalists. For more information or to request a catalog of all of our classes, please call 209-379-2321 or visit www.yosemite.org.

Proceeds from the Yosemite Outdoor Adventure program directly benefit Yosemite National Park. The Yosemite Association, which runs the program, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of Yosemite through its publishing, outdoor adventures, volunteer, and other programs.
