    Yosemite Earthday

This weekend, Yosemite National Park is celebrating Earth Day in style with two and a half days of events for visitors. The fun begins with a film festival Friday night (see article below) and continues throughout the day Saturday with a variety of activities and a celebration on the Village Mall. Sunday offers a stewardship project and a Pedal, Play, and Protect guided bike ride through the valley. Evening programs are offered each night.

For more information on this park-wide celebration and a schedule of events, contact ejacobs@dncinc.com

On Friday, April 20th at 7:00 pm, check out the EarthDance Environmental Film Festival at the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center Theater.

Presented by the National Park Service, Yosemite Association, and Yosemite Institute, in association with the Oakland Museum of California, the EarthDance Short Attention Span Environmental Film Festival heralds sustainability with its juried compilation of short comedies, documentaries, mockumentaries, animations, thrillers, and family-friendly films that invite you to celebrate your relationship to the natural world.

The festival is free of charge, but a $5 suggested donation is appreciated.

Believe it or not - It's Spring!
    dogwood blossoms

A sure sign that spring is here, despite the sudden drop in temperature and falling snow, is the annual dogwood bloom in Yosemite Valley.

Though we spent some time recently hiking above snow line, it's hard not to enjoy the mountain dogwoods in full bloom throughout the valley. Despite their appearance, the striking 'flowers' are actually petaloid bracts covering the branch tips.
